Depends on the model. Was reading a thread yesterday and apparently the prices have rocketed. But I'm keen on a set

Probably, if the individual price is cheap enough.:biggrin

You can get car kits that fit the Mille ( comprising of two bulbs, two ballasts and the appropriate wiring for each one ) on eBay for £38.

Been thinking of grabbing one and either keeping one set as a spare or splitting with someone so we get two kits for the price of one, in effect. :devious

Hiya folks,

Apologies for not replying sooner, been busy.

Well, andiRSV was the first to PM me regarding splitting a kit but there were also a few more folk interested in splitting one so if you fancy going halvers on a kit with someone, maybe post here and see if we can match folk up to share the cost of a few kits?.

Andi, are you still up for splitting one?. If so, how about I order the kit, fit my half and test it out then either post your half through to you or I could nip over as you aren't a million miles away from me?.

The kits on eBay I was looking at is THIS ONE (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HID-XENON-CONVERSION-KIT-H4-6000K-2-BULBS-2-BALLASTS_W0QQitemZ170390440371QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item27ac0fc9b3)

amb67 recommended them. They are not the slimline ballasts but to be honest that shouldn't matter as there is plenty room behind the dash/clocks for fitting.

Let me know what you think, Andi. :thumbup

Cheers for that dude, I've emailed Gasboy to see if he wants to go halves as he is local if not will post on here to see if anyone else wants to:thumbup
Don't really need it as I don't ride in the night/crap weather but they still look cool:eatcorn

No worries m8.

RSVkwackers was the other member here that PM'd me about splitting a kit, maybe he could split one with you if Gasboy doesn't?.

I'm the same, hardly ride at night at all but every so often I use the bike to go to work, just to give the thing a run as it is getting used less and less now I'm cycling to work. Leave for work at 6.30am and this time of year good lights are a must. Having used a few retro fitted kits on my last two cars and my current one I appreciate the imcrease in vision HID kits give so its high time I got one for the bike tbh. :biggrin

I'll phone him later and ask and if not will PM Kwacker.
I'm tempted to get a set for my car at that price but not to sure how much difference they will have over my current lights:dunno Got a 2004 Vectra and I thought these were HID but how to tell:dunno

Aha!!!. Coincidentally I also have a Vectra, a 54 reg 3.0 V6 CDTi SRi. I'm pretty clued up on my Vectra's, been a member of the Vec-C forums for years. What model do you have m8?.

An easy way to tell if you have HID/Xenons on your Vec is :-

If you have headlight washers on your front bumper you "might" have factory fit HID's/Xenons
If you have a headlight levelling control just under your headlight on/off switch inside the car then you defo do not have factory fit HID's/Xenons.

Factory fitted Xenons are self levelling so if the control knob is there inside the car to allow you to adjust them then nah, you haven't got factory fitted Xenons. :thumbup

I joined that forum some time ago when I had the dreaded spanner on the car warning:eek:
I've got a 2004 Elite estate and it has the level adjuster knob next to the on/off switch.
Sparkys told me about kits from the states but just need to find the exact model

RSV_Ecosse

I had the spanner thingy too, I blamed it on the DTUK Tuning Box I had on at the time which gave a hefty increase in power. Ended up with me having the main engine management ECU replaced under warranty as well as a turbo pressure sensor. So took the Tuning Box off and sold it. Didn't trust it although it may well have simply been a coincidence that the sensor and ECU packed in, wasn't willing to take the chance!!.

I bought my HID kit on Vec-C in a "Group Buy" deal, an MTEC kit. That was a couple of years ago. I post on Vec-C under the same username as here, feel free to look up some of my threads on HID's over there. :biggrin

The Group Buy was from HIDS DIRECT :-

http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/

Great mob to deal with, Martin there is very helpful.

Couple of ( crappy mobile phone ) pics of the Vec's HID's :-

Not sure where you get that from m8, the Z30DT is a proven, reliable unit. :)

Anyway, we are going wayyyy off topic here talking about Vectra's in a thread about HID's for Mille's so I'll make this my last "off topic" post in here, a quick pic of my Vec before it had the HID kit fitted, it had Philips GT150 Power2Night bulbs in there in this pic ( and the standard V-Grille and not the Irmscher one I have now :biggrin ) :-

I bought the angles eyes a few months ago as they looked well cool as it was a ring of light indside the headlight. But when I got the box and instructions it meant separating the glass from the housing in a oven and it all looked well hard work so I sent them back and had a refund. But the look of them was well cool. Dont know how the MOT would have faired too on them.

"Older" shape Mille's only need half a kit as the dipped beam on them is only the one single light.

I presume on the 2004 onwards "New shape" bikes that you would indeed require a full kit comprising of both bulbs and both ballasts. Unless they are like my mates VTR SP-2, despite it being twin headlamps only one of the lamps actually lights up on dipped beam?. I'm not sure as my bike is a 2000 model so maybe someone with a later bike can confirm. :dunno

as long as it give's out a beam patten it fine which they do and the angle eye cant be the blue or any colour. theres a way around the lense buy a lamp protector and replace it wen projectors r fittied

98 - 01 RSV's are H4 - Unless they have had the later headlamp and front fairings fitted.

01 - 03 RSV's are H7

03 - 09 RSV's are H7U

All you need to do is buy a H7 6000K burner (Bulb) and sell the H4 on Flea bay, you'll find some bargains on Ebay for H7 bulbs/burners.

Ballasts will be the same whatever bulb the kit uses, I'm pretty certain it doesn't matter.

Yep, ballasts are all pretty much the same connector types, very few kits have different connectors but bear in mind that they can.

You aren't the first one to make this mistake and you won't be the last mate.

Just buy a H7 6000K bulb form here (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HID-xenon-Replacement-BULB-h3-h1-h7-hb3-hb4-8000k-6000k_W0QQitemZ250538931791QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3a5548b64f) and plug it in!

These bulbs are fine mate I've had some and am running one now on my RSV, takes about 14 working days to arrive but saves you a fair few quid.

Not yet mate just waiting on the return parcel, they are really simple though. I started fitting everything until I realised I had the wrong burner :dowhat
I have fitted the same kit to my car though which again was a piece of piss although fiddly but the difference in light output is unreal. I have gone for the 6000k, the HID OEM on new cars with these fitted is 4300k. The only difference is that the 6000k has a slight tinge of blue whereas the 4300k are pure white but no real noticeable difference on the deck. Going to put a set in the high beam as well to create my own sunshine:devious
Will do a pcture how to once I get the new kit back if people are interested:dunno
