About to become RSV Owner

Hi all,

Looking at buying a new RSV1000Rk7 in about 2 months time, coming from a GSXR600K6, have enjoyed the 600 and my K4 600 before that but now looking for something a bit different, gotta sort out a test ride shortly, my only concern I have is how easy compared to a gixer it is to get the bike over, any comments from people who've come from 600's would be appreciated:thumbup

I hade a 51 plate zx6r before a mille and i will admit that the jap 600's are easier to throw around. The thing is, once the mille is set in the corner, it feels like it is on rails and the power comes from nowhere, as opposed to keeping the thing in the top quarter of the rev range to create any 'gusto'

I much prefer the look, sound, handling, well everything really about the mille
I am well converted. :thumbup

Can't wait to get on one and try it, I've had a good look at them already, just awaiting the opportunity to get a test ride and then I'll be buying one, seems with a number of the modern Jap bikes that in the quest for reduced weight the finish, fit and quality is starting to suffer, when I looked at the mille at the weekend and pressed and prodded it, it really seems a substantial well built piece of kit even down to the paint finish, within 20 miles of riding my Gixer the tank started to matt, not what I expected from a new bike, the other reason for a v-twin for me as opposed to opting for an inline 4 is that I'm done with the outright straightline speed thing, I want torque and character, my fun is to be found in the corners, heard nothing but good things about v-twins when it comes to laying power down in almost any gear.

If you need convincing any more take a look at this months PB magazine. The bike that holds the new record for a lap of the Nurbergring is, yip youve guessed it, the mighty aprilia factory.:thumbup

they may lead on the the straights, but its far more satisfying (and much more demoralising for others) when you hammer round them on the outside of bends ! ! :exclamation

In line 4 600 to twin 1l you'll never look back. The power and handling just cannot be compared.

You'll be laughing into your chin guard on the way home.

I raced 600s for a few years before getting on the RSV in 2005 for a round of the super twins. Loved it! Took some getting used to the tourque difference and the revs but I found it very light and usable.

You should really get a test ride mate, twins can get some getting used to. Took me a while after coming off my ZX6R, but get a set of cans on it and get ready for the smile.

Had an SV650 for a year before me gixers, nowhere near the power of an RSVR but it gave me an idea about the engine breaking, looking at a K7RSVR, it's got enough toys on for me, think it's a beautiful looking bike, if I can pick up an enregistered K6 then I'll probably look at that:thumbup
