most of the studies i've seen don't rank hypnotism that high over placebo. :O
you body has a chemical addiction, you've gotta ween it off.

True but the chemical addiction side of it is actually fairly minor in comparatively to the physical addiction.
Have heard mixed results re hynotheropy but hell, anything's worth a crack eh? :thumbup

I gave up my 25 year pack a day habit last September with the help of patches. The chemical addiction was the hardest for me.
Each time I dropped a patch size, it was like I was giving up again :laugh It was an addiction to the drug and it was (still is) a bastard to beat.
I often think "I would enjoy a smoke right now" those cravings don't last long though. When someone lights up and that first wiff hits the air my old brain lights up, it thinks it's going to get some nicotine again. Because I can't do anything in moderation, I haven't had a puff since, I'd end up smoking again.
The physical side of things, like lighting up everytime I started the car, having a drink etc wasn't that bad. And from July the 1st this year, no more smoking in enclosed public places, so the pub is now smoke free. (We're a bit slow here in Vic)
Good luck! :thumbup (If you have more of a physical addiction rather than a chemical one, it'll be easy for you).

My former boss smoked a ton of cigs a day for ~ 45yrs then decided to quite. He just stoped cold-turkey. Said it was a very miserable two weeks, but then he was over it. Hasn't had one since (that was probably 15 yrs ago).
