No longer an Aprilia owner!

Whelp...she's gone. The new owner of my beloved Mille took possession of her this afternoon. I told him about this place, hopefully he'll drop in.

I'm happy to report that my Aprilia ownership experience was a joy from beginning to end. The bike ran great, looked great, and was stone reliable. I never even had the infamous dash reset issue, not once!

I'm not 100% sure what her replacement in the garage will be but after 5 years of riding pure sportbikes, it's time to try something new. The Triumph Tiger is the most likely candidate at this point, but I'm also interested in the Ducati Multistrada.

The Superduke is a sweet ride, but my next bike needs to be two up friendly and capable of carrying hard luggage. If it weren't for those two things I'd probably be looking at a Tuono or Superduke.

if you're looking on the lines of something like a triumph tiger ... why not get a bmw 1150gs my uncle had one it was good all the tourtech kit on it looked mint and it's the best of all the tourers like muiltistraders and tigers the tigers the under dog to the beemer

The old Tigers were the underdog. It's a new bike for this year, and very much the BMW's equal (or better) unless you want to take the bike off road. I don't care about off-road capability. I haven't ruled out a BMW though, as I've always liked the bikes. The Tiger has really turned my head though.

Out of the running for the same reasons as the Tuono and Superduke. The S3 may even be the worst of those three for touring and 2 up duty.

I test rode a Tiger a week or two ago and really enjoyed it. :thumbup

Having parked up next to a Multistrada and riding alongside an older Tiger, I would have taken the Tiger over the Duc, based on comfort, suitability for being 2 up and carrying luggage and sheer road presence, it just looks more like a bike to tour on than some form of posing value pretender to the Tuono, and a grunty fooker to boot, but that's just my opinion.

The new tiger is very cool. You might also test ride a Uly (with or SO to check passenger comfort), its also gotten great reviews and the seat on it looks really, really comfortable (front and back) - not sure about the hardly motor, but the rest of the bike looks really nice:)

The Uly was originally high on my list of possibles. However since then I've seen a few long term reviews that were less than steller. I'm also interested in trying a triple, having never had one and riding twins for the past 5 years.

I was at a Triumph dealer today and threw a leg over the new Tiger....nice

I am pretty tall and I have to say that seat is a ways up there.....and I'm 6'3"

The Sprint is a very nice ride, but I'm much more interested in the Tiger. It is one tall machine, that's for certain! :)

A friend of mine, oh for as long as i can remember always had sports bikes, fireblades,Ducati"s,Blackbirds,etc... one day we aranged to go for a ride out and he turned up on a Tiger,Brand new:scared...what have you done i said where the hells yer Blackbird...? he had px the bird and has never regreted one moment,cant fault it and is shortly gonna get the new one. try one out:thumbup

well I ride a T595 tona as my commuter and the triple is fantastic for that (my mille is a trackbike and the 1st time I've ever ridden twins but still not on the road so can't comment on commutability - great word ehhh ;-) )
I've had inline 4's as well and the triple is very forgiving - basically you can get away without dropping gears to overtake and such like. HOWEVER my issue with triumphs are the bloody aweful dealers/service centres available in the UK that expect you to take out a second mortgage when things go awrye and seem to like to nick your good battery for some crappy dud in their workshop :jack - balls to that!!! So if you go with the big T and find a good bunch please let me know ;-)

I went throught my entire aprilia ownership experience without ever setting foot in an actual aprila dealership! No big deal. Parts can be ordered and I do my own work. As luck would have it, I have a decent Triumph dealership about 10 miles from home. I doubt they'd be of much use to someone in the UK, though. :thumbup

I don't plan on purchasing anything until spring. The Tiger is still leading my list of possibles, but the Uly has jumped back on the list and is gaining ground fast. :biggrin
