Heres something that has puzzled me for years....
I f i had 1 a cow its a cow, if i had 2 it becomes cow's
1 lamb is lamb and 2 become lamb's
So why is it that 1 sheep is sheep and 2 are still sheep not sheep's ??
Also a herdsman looks after a herd of cattle
But a shepherd looks after a flock of sheep, why isnt he a flocksman ??
Just wondered if anyone knows the answer

I was taught fish is singular and plural, and fishes was used for multiple types / species. i.e I can see 6 fish (6 trout). I see 6 fishes (salmon, trout, carp etc) :dunno

Where do you get all this time to do all this pondering??
Steve-tls your right on the fish being singular and plural but the 's' on the end of " I see 6 fishes" is wrong it should be " I see 6 fish" as the sentence would be regardless of sex or species
here endeth the lesson :smilie:smilie
