Front Sprocket

I bought a 15T sprocket from Demon Tweekes and tried to fit it today, only to find I already had a 15T on there :banghead.
There appeared to be a witness of threadlock on the cap head when I removed it, so my question is, is it OTT or do you threadlock yours :O

I didn't bother to re-apply fresh as there was still plenty on there, if its firm to move it should be OK but on the other hand..for what it costs it's piece of mind...

I change the sprockets on the race bike quite often and dont apply thread lock. But it cant do any harm I guess if your not planning on having it off again soon.

Do you end up changing through the gears a lot quicker though...?

No none at all....

I changed to a 15T almost straight away, massive difference..
Last tyre change I changed the rear to a 42...Oh yeah baby !!!
thoroughly recommended.....
No downsides..2nd gear round town instead of 1st and slipping the clutch

funny thing is just came out of garage after fitting new change and spkts to find this thread ...(still covered in chain lube:lol)most people come down a tooth on the front to get rid of the notchiness at low speeds you do loose a bit of top end but gain slight acceleration it is a recommended mod to do:thumbup threadlock is worthwhile on any bolt on a mille due to the vibrations stops them falling out trust me it happens! not as critical on front spkt but i always use it just dont put the wrong colour(shows what strenght it is)on i always use blue that is good enough:biggrin

I put a 15 front on as soon as I collected my bike - Still feels a bit too long-legged. Just got hold of a 42 rear, so that will be going on to.

Will be visiting Southern Cross on the 17th Aug to have the bike set up with the Tigs and a Renegade airkit - the ride home should be a good proving run!

Just ordered my 15t front sprocket:thumbup. Is it easy to change yourself or should I get the garage to do it? Does anyone know the torque settings? Why so many questions?

Cheers guys:devious easy to DIY....so long as you have a good socket set and either a good tourque wrench or know the difference between 5ft/lbs or 50 ft'lbs....

tourqe setting I used was F-tight !:thumbup

So I take it you just remove the sprocket cover, slacken the adjusters on the back wheel to shift it forward to give you some slack and just remove and refit the sprocket? By the way the chain has done 4500miles.

Yep - Easier to have the bike in gear when removing and refitting the sprocket too

No Need to cut the chain short?

I'm planning to put a 15T on my bike and just wonderring if I need to cut the chain.
