Yup they are red cans. 100% the stock cans, but modified a bit. I cored them out and then got a weird idea to get them powder coated candy red. To put the finishing touches on them I got some exhaust decals that match the normal Aprilia Racing etching.

G'day Milleman,
I have an '03 myself. The most cost effective mods are derestricting the airbox, possibly also add the Colin Edwards air intake tubes which are supposed to increase air flow and the 54mm velocity stacks. Doing this will give you an extra 5-7 horses for around $500 and you can easily fit the parts yourself. You'll want to remap the bike though, so a power commander is a must and whilst you're there a set of free flowing pipes. If your really keen go for the 54mm throttle bodies as well. All the above will ensure that you leave the Japs for dead on the torque curve and give your Millie an easy 25+hp gain depending on your choice of pipe. Plus the extra growl from the intake and the exhaust will make you pucker up as well. Good luck and remember sticky side down!

I've got an Akra race pipe that gave an extra 14hp on the dyno. The 54mm throttle bodies are good for 5-7. Add on the extra ponies from the airbox conversion which is easily another 5+hp. Even the addition of the billet velocity stacks is supposed to give 1-2hp as are the Colin Edwards inner air intake tubes. Can't wait for Aprilia to get serious about racing again to see what sort of mods are gonna be available for the new range. :love2

thanks for the mod tips, i will start looking into them all... where did you track down the colin edwards air intakes?? my biggest problem is that i have a mortgage that doesnt allow me alot of room for bike parts... damn house.. do i really need it???? hmmm

how much have you spent upgrading your mille sav??

The_Sav
07-05-2007, 03:53 AM
I bought my Mille cheap last year as a repairable write-off. I fixed her up myself, she only needed the sub-frame straightening and a new top fairing bracket. I've ridden her for the last year and now the current rego runs out on the 13th. I've spent the last 12 months buying up whatever I can get my hands on. Next week I start the strip down and I'm hoping to turn her into a show bike. Here's the list of what I have bought so far:

Akrapovic race pipe
RSVR Oz magnesium wheels (damaged, got them repaired)
Ohlins forks (damaged, got them repaired)
Ohlins rear shock
harris adjustable rearsets
billet top yoke
pc111
54mm throttle bodies and velocity stacks
evoluzione airbox
wavey discs
billet clutch slave cylinder
integrated rear light (needed soldering)
Colin Edwards intake tubes
carbon parts- fairing inserts, ears, guard, hugger, side vents, dash panel, flush mount indicators, toe guard, chain guard, air intakes.

Total = A $*#tload (somewhere in the vicinity of $4500+) Ouch!

I have been patient though and tried to get the best deals I could on ebay for the most part. Also considering a turbo. Hmmmm turbo!

Still need an aftermarket eprom, air intake inners (mine are cracked), clip ons(51mm)and bottom yoke(51mm). Any help here would be appreciated.

My brother is a fitter and turner so I will also be getting him to fabricate me a couple of parts as well.

You better also add the price of the gixxer 600 I'm picking up on monday so that I've got something to throw my leg over for the next 6-12 months. And that fact that I may lose my girlfriend over it all.

Hi Sav, as far as I know the later models have 57mm TB's which aparently are adaptable to fit the 98-03 milles.
My carbon comes from RSVR.net, Aprilia, OPP in Canada and QB carbon in the UK. I have spent just over 4k GBP on Carbon, sad I know :biggrin
I am stil waiting fo orthe tank from OPP 6 months after I bought it..arrgg.
I'm gonna get the 57 TB's and velocity stacks next.

Hi there, new member alert! I must say you all have immaculate taste....

Have had my 2004 Factory RSV for a week now and am still loving it - what a front end - its like she's on rails or something. High points are going through the gears and the noises! Low point - indicator/horn arrangement - beeping the horn inadvertently gets you looks for all the wrong reason. Has only taken a week to remember it tho! Neutral is elusive also but improving.

Had to sell my big green zx9r though - she was a great bike but feels a bit flabby now.

Could not believe the torque - both the ninja and the mille make similar amounts bhp wise but delivery is another thing - the ninja feels a bit gutless next to the mille........

Anyway, very grateful for the site, nice to hear from other similarly starry eyed rsv owners - will get some pics up once I give her a proper clean - Plymouth is damp at the mo.

cheers

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to pick some brains! I've just sold a 2002 Mille, it was a fantastic machine!!!, but it's time to move on.

I am going to see a new Model on Monday with cash in my hand, but it's just occurred to me that I haven't even sat on a new one, so can anyone tell me if they are the same sort of ride as the old Bike. I'm 6'4'' and found the old bike very comfy.

I had a Fireblade before and that was terrible.

Any feedback before Monday would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,

There's a fair chance I'll be joining your club of RSV enthousiasts, thanks to cwalker (by far the craziest Belgian I know) and that mint '00 RSVr he has me drooling over in his shop :drool

Hi Pumpkin,

So you're favourite ribs place, is that Amadeus? I've been to the Amadeus in Antwerpen but I always seem to get distracted by the windows when I come out of there?:biggrin

If one of your UK trackdays is at Snetterton then let me know as that's only a few miles from where I live. Also do you know if they do bike track days at Spa? was thinking of going next year, maybe as I have a friend who lives at Namur. Also hoping to get over to Mettet for the Supermoto racing next year too as that always looks like a lot of fun.

Cheers
Chris

Hey Chris,

I haven't been to that ribs place in Antwerp, but there's an Amadeus in Ghent as well, which isn't bad at all ! I've got three favorite places to chose from, depends if you like 'em sweet or salty :biggrin

Snetterton might very well be on my route, I'll be sure to let you know !
Brands and Donnington are likely too.
And yes, they organize plenty trackdays at Spa/Francorchamps!
I haven't ridden there yet, but it sure is well worth it !
(fyi: My first trackday so far was at Zolder on my Raptor a month ago.. and yes, I'm hooked :laugh Curious what it will be like on an RSV though :hail )

I haven't been to Mettet yet but cwalker went recently, so you might want to ask him about it. :thumbup

Hi,

Only been to Ghent a couple of times and always seem to get lost, got aright bollocking from some policeman when I was there earlier this year. I only tried to drive my van across the paved square outside the Cathedral to get to my hotel!!:O we went to an underground Brazilian restaurant to eat that night, you can't beat eating some Brazilian:biggrin

I've got a Trackday booked at Brands Indy circuit next month, the 22nd, think it's gonna be bloody cold but hopefully not too cold. Will be my first trackday at Brands, its a Supermoto trackday so taking the KTM. My RSVR is off the road at the mo as I'm about to get a load more Carbon fitted and then a colin Edwards Rep tweaked motor with twin akro's fitted.

Have done Snetterton a few times on the RSVR, that's excellent fun and a fairly cheap track so would defo recommend it to you.

Like the sound of a trip to Spa next year, will let you know if I set something up.

Cheers
Chris

Just want to say Hi, Just found this forum so i thought i will introduce my self.
Bought my self a 02 silver Mille about month ago. I love it to bits, but she already shown me the bad sides of owning an italian bike.:mad1 Here is the story:
I bought it for a reasonable price from a stealership and discovered that it has a problem the right fork was leaking and the dealer took it back the next day and replaced the seals under warranty (30 days). so that has been solved and while he had the forks off discovered that the head bearring was a bit shagged so he changed the bearings so i was a week withou it again. Finally got it back and took it for a spin out of town and discovered that the 4th gear kept jumping out. So took it back once again and he took it for a test ride and agreed that there is a problem and its not worth repairing and told me that he will give me my money back, Stripp the bike and sell it for parts , but it was too late , i fell in love with it and decided to save her from the scrap yard. I told him that i keep it if he gives me £600 back and i solve the problem.
He agreed.I bought a 4000 mile engine from an 03 and changed it my self: here are some pics of her and the engine transplant:

Not strictly a new member i've been here for a while absorbing comments and the like. but for the past month or so i've been procrastinating about what to do.

Anyway at lunch i went and sorted out my new steed, it's a 2006 RSV-R in silver. I'll post a pic when I can grab the one I tool earlier off my phone. Very excited about picking it up on Saturday just hoping it's as nice as Saturday just gone when I had a great test ride.

Not sure about commuting on it but we'll see.

Hi.
Spent the last decade campaigning school bikes (748, 996, CBR600, Fireblade) and my own Sprint ST and Multistrada around UK tracks. But three seasons of getting thrashed on the straights with the Multi have brought me to the point where I have to up the ante (before I retire :).
Just got my hands on a brand new '06 Factory. Gold bling suits me down to the ground, but my soul will be happier when I get it painted British Racing Green... He's called 'Nibelung'.
I'm hoping it's fairly track ready out of the box; I just need to get some spare wheels for wets...

Hi,
New in town.
After 17 years with motorcycles, I finnaly get a RSV Mille (2002).
Had a few bikes in the last years, but the Ape is indeed the bike that gives me more thrill. There is passion and soul where the other bikes had.....something else.
Last bike were Honda XRV750 ; XL1000; Bmw K1200S.
Bought the Ape from a friend with only 5.000 miles, and I've only done 2.500 in last couple of months....So far...so good.

Yup they are red cans. 100% the stock cans, but modified a bit. I cored them out and then got a weird idea to get them powder coated candy red. To put the finishing touches on them I got some exhaust decals that match the normal Aprilia Racing etching.

i know that, whats with all those bloody cameras on the way into melb, there must be 5 or 6 of em in a row !!!!! in NSW they are nicly marked with warning signs, :)
so its easy to miss a camera in vic,i got done for 4kmh over in a car in melb last year, what a joke.
But i do like those front facing cameras, bet they get alot of bike pics with no plate info.haha

i second that,great site.cheers.

Hey guys,

you got a nice forum here!
I'm Pornstar, 20 years old (become 21 this summer) and I start driving bikes about 10 years ago in Italy, where I spent nearly every summer of my life.
Btw. I still got no license for driving, but I'll get this summer my license for driving bikes and cards...finally.

Cheers and greetings from Berlin! :tillis

WA they are a little more friendly and usually get away with 10k over, only got 4 cameras in the state that photo the rear plate at the moment so its unlucky to get done, got to watch the cameras at lights though.

I am the very happy owner of a '01 RSV R. Got her August last year after reading loads of positive posts on RSV ownership here. Only 1 problem so far, I haven't been to the track, to enjoy the bikes true talents.

Hey everyone. Thought I'd better post up and say hello. I was guided here from a guy I met at southern cross when my bike was on the dyno. He had an MS rep mille with circular saw brake discs. It wouldn't let me put that in the referals bit though.:biggrin

I have an 02 mille that's standard aside from a PCIII and Ti race can. On the look out for some more bits when I can get some money together. So hello anyway!

Ive just traded in a GSXR1000 For an RSV-R. Ive allways been a 750 guy but the new 750 felt a little cramped so i got the thou. Ever since getting the thou ive not got on with it and after trying for about 7 month some one suggested trying an RSV.

Hi guys, I'm River (or Riv), just been made redundant (its a good thing) so have a 2005 RSV1000R ordered, which I pick up next week. Currently Ride a ZX6r and have never ridden a twin before, however cannot wait! Live in the UK in Cheshire (Knutsford) so can often be found gunning it around the Cat n fiddle road, tell the feds show up of course! Any tips on handling the RSV would be much appreciated, roll on next week when I pick it up!

Cheers Sprocker, I must admit I love this bike. Its hard to believe mines now 5yrs old, it still looks pretty modern with all the angles.

I must also admit that the yellow ones are fast but as someone pointed out on the D6 website, the silvers are the true fast ones as they were once yellow or red but the speed ripped all the paint off!!! So all the fastest D6's are always silver :D

Hi, to all, now that I have officially ridden my RSV-1000R 04, about 10 rides so far (1100Kms) I can say that I am very, very please with my purchase, much better than anticipated, in fact. I did, over the winter, a few mods like sticker's here and there, put a double bubble, machine bar end's along with new swingarm extension and cover's for the swingarm pivot and slider's for the front axle . Took the time to set up the suspension by the book and bleed the rear brake. I also slotted the discs brakes witch is a habit of mine, (cant stand to see those discs with so much meat on them). Since many of you were pushing for a change of oil jet in the trans, along with a tooth less up front, I did those this past week-end. And yes it is easier to put in neutral (althought it was'nt half bad as is) and now much easier to get away from a stoplight. But more of a wheelie monster! well what do you want ? The thing that I'm the most impress with, beside the power, is the smoothness of the engine, along with the roomy ergos, lovely sound, the power, the look, it's willingness to rev, the torque, the wheelies, those fantastic brakes ( you truly feel that at any time you can dial even more power to them to the point of going over the bars if you want.) What I least like: too far a reach to the bars along with some mumbness in the trottle hand, and the hardness of the seat witch I have work on but will need some more softening. I will have to go to a track day to trully enjoy it (there's a bunch of Ducatisti's who will organize one 3rd week of june) can't wait... See Ya.:thumbup:biggrin
