Has any of you been out on a run to the cat and fiddle "A537 Macclesfield ", a couple of my mates have been out on that run and tell me its the best ever :dunno.. Looking at the google map it does look very good with plenty of twisties. Whatch out for the speed cameras..:scared.

its great but fairly heavily policed, same with the stokesley-helmsley TT, has to be done at least once..before you turn around and do it again.

I was up there Sunday, gassed it to overtake a car and noticed a van with the cameras rolling, think I managed to scrub of the speed in time, it is ok up there but the surface isn't great and the bends are too twisty for 1000cc bikes, got to be done if you have never done them though.
2 better roads although distance is a problem are
Penrith to Hexham A686 I think 35 miles of awesomeness
Fort Agustus to Kyle of Lochalsh, best road on these shores by a mile. 55 ish miles of wide sweepers, no junctions, no villages :hail

I liveonly a few miles from Penrith so will have to give that one a try. Cat and fiddle is a good twisty but a little over rated as there are soo many other bike, traffic and coppers about. I much prefer a quiet road where you dont see any traffic for miles. When I find them I tend to keep it quiet although there are plenty round the lakes.

thing to do is go for a sneaky blast at a time when most bikers wont be there. Perfect excuse to pull that midweek sickie!!

Best time for cat & fiddle is early morning or just before sunset, hardly any any other road users and no bobbys,i do think its a bit over rated but yeah well worth a go...:thumbup
