Hey guys had my 05 rsv-r for about 2 weeks now and covered about 500 miles, loving it. Putting the akras and getting the map02 tomorrow so that should be sweet. However, sometimes when i hit the rev limiter instead of bouncing off it there a whole load of what i presume is engine brake like i've hit a wall pretty disconcerting is this normal? anyone had any experience or know what this may be?

Also, if i fit a K+N panel filter do i need more than just to change to map02?

thanks in advance guys!

Its the engine cutting the back the ignition (or something similar, not 100% certain on the exact method) so you dont blow the engine up by over revving

ah so its normal? that sounds like a smart thing but its pretty harsh when it happens! my cbr600rr my triumph 955 and my mates 675 etc all just bounce and buzz off the limiter!

This is a v twin loads of engine braking, think about when you are at 10k rpm and you shut the throttle off completely it always feels like you've a brick wall, sound pretty normal to me the rev limiter is pretty harsh on these.
